Questions we get before the first upload

Automated scan to BIM, in short
What is click2BIM?
An online scan-to-BIM service. You upload a laser-scan point cloud and click2BIM reconstructs it as a classified IFC 4.3 model of slabs, walls, doors and windows, within minutes. The geometry is calculated from the measured points rather than predicted.
Can I open the model in Revit or Archicad?
Yes. The model is delivered as IFC 4.3, which both Revit and Archicad import. Native RVT and PLN export is in development.
Preparing your scan
How should I prepare my point cloud?
Upload one building per file, with nothing on its outside boundary. Furniture and clutter inside the building can stay. Remove conservatories, exterior stairs, sheds, outbuildings, vegetation and fencing near the walls first. Point cloud files should consist of a merged inside and outside scan. Please contact us if you need any help. A building should have a ground floor surface. Eliminate basements as they do not have an outside scan. The best results guide shows a real scan cleaned in four stages.
What makes a point cloud an invalid upload?
A scan that contains more than one building. Split it and upload each building on its own, because click2BIM resolves one coherent structure per model.
Files and formats
Which point cloud formats can I upload?
.e57, .las and .laz, the open exchange formats that most laser-scanning software exports. One file can be up to 100 GB.
What point cloud density do you need?
Under 5 cm for best results. Accuracy tracks the quality of your capture: point clouds coarser than 5 cm are rejected before processing, with a message explaining why, and nothing is charged.
What is the maximum file size?
100 GB in a single file. One uploaded file produces one IFC model.
What you get back
What do I get back, and in which format?
A structured IFC model, schema IFC 4.3, with floor slabs and ceilings classified as IfcSlab, walls as IfcWall, doors as IfcDoor and windows as IfcWindow. Native PLN and RVT export is in development.
How long does the conversion take?
Minutes. Processing takes one to three minutes once the upload has finished. How long the upload takes depends on your connection and the size of the file.
What is click2SLIM?
Structure-aware downsampling that turns your point cloud into a LAZ file that opens on a standard office laptop. Clouds over 5 GB are slimmed to a 5 cm point spacing while edges, corners and openings keep full density, so a 100 GB E57 becomes a LAZ of around 10 GB.
What is coming next?
Roofs and stairs as classified elements, and native PLN and RVT export alongside IFC.
Pricing and payment
How much does it cost?
€0.75 per square metre of modelled floor area for the IFC model. No subscription, seat licence or setup fee, and the same rate at every volume. The click2SLIM point cloud is €25 on its own, or €10 when you buy it with the model. For customers billed in Hungary, these prices are net of 27% VAT; the VAT-inclusive total is shown before payment.
Do I have to pay before I see anything?
No. You register, upload, and receive the floor area, the price and an isometric view of your model. Payment comes after that, and only if you want the file.
What counts toward the square-metre price?
Total floor area of all detected slabs, including roof and basement levels. Gardens, landscaping, driveways, paths and parking are excluded.
What if my point cloud cannot be processed?
You get a message telling you what went wrong, and you pay nothing.
Data and privacy
How long are my models stored?
Seven days, then your point cloud and your IFC are both deleted. We email you before that happens.
What about my data and GDPR?
Uploaded scans are used in anonymised form to improve the system. Nothing identifying the project or the client is retained. Mutual NDAs are available on request.
